Yes Franz, that would likely be a photo taken at No 13 POW Group at Dhurringile (near Murchison in Victoria). I have a keen interest in the Kormoron / HMAS Sydney encounter. Its hard to comprehend what the loss of the Sydney was to the RAN in WW2, until you see that more men were lost in this one engagement, than Australia lost in the whole Vietnam war 1962 - 1972. Thought these might be of interest:Franz repper wrote:

The Prisoner of War Service and Casualty Form for Captain Detmers, the form notes his escape from Dhurringile in January 1945 and recapture and punishment. Later the same year he was twice admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke. NAA: MP1103/1, 47

Re: KM POW photos
Cam , there is a good article in the current issue of After The Battle on the subject of Axis POW's in Australia.
Re: KM POW photos
Hi JS Yes thats a good article in ATB. My father and I are attending a literary function with David Mearns (who found the Kormoran / Sydney) later this month.

I hope to be able to have a few words with him and shake his hand. I also hope he can also locate the Centaur hospital ship as well and bring some dignity to the victims of that atrocity

Re: KM POW photos
Shortly after dawn on 27 November, 1941, German survivors from HSK Kormoran transfer from their swamped lifeboat to merchant vessel Centaur's P-4 lifeboat. The Centaur was not prepared to let the men board without armed guards on board and towed them to Carnarvon.
