Looks an interesting book.

Schiffer Publishing Ltd publish some lovely books but can be in the high price bracket. £56.00 on amazon is £3.00 cheaper than most places that are selling it

It doesn't go into any real detail though. This promises a more in depth review with many more details.

Is that an update, I thought there was already such a small book in A5 format?

I think this one is too, costs about the same as a coffee table.
I cant find any mention of another book on German rations.

Fair comment but it is a good starter for beginners and has most of the basic load-out in
one format without searching for different catagories!

Dont get me wrong I'll almost certainly buy it. :? I bought the Jerrycan book.
It just seems like a chicken and egg situation. The market must be small for such a book, even within those who have an interest in WW2 Germany. So the price must be high to cover costs, but that cost puts people off so they stand to sell less. And round and round you go.
It's no more than the Schiffer camo books or some of the Then and Now books and I have those. Books are such a valuable resource, more dependable than the web. When used with the web you can get some very reliable answers.

Stig

The likes of Bender, Schiffer and Fedorowicz seem to be the books that 3rd Reich collectors go for as they are usually excellent books printed on high quaility paper and retain their value if not go up in value in many cases.

IMHO their books are expensive but worth the money.

I really like Schiffer publishing, but 'Personal Effects of the German Soldier in World War II' is a tad expensive for what you pay for. it's a small book with lots of images and little description, for a high price. It's a good book still, but not worth the price.
i'll wait and see if the reviews of this new book are going to be positive before I purchase it.
