Book Recommendations ?

Post by mm1977 »

I'm thinking of buying the following books and was looking for feedback on these Titles :

SOLDAT XI-C - World War II German Reenactor's Guide and Combat Uniform & Equipment Reproductions

Deutsche Soldaten: Uniforms, Equipment and Personal Items of the German Goldier 1939-1945 by Agustin Sainz

Ruckmarsch Then and Now: The German Retreat from Normandy by Jean-Paul Pallud

German Soldiers of World War Two by Jean De Lagarde

Thanks

I would recommend this book - it's not perfect (there are some post-war items in his pictures), but it goes into a lot of detail on kit. A good companion to Brian Davis' book, I'd say.

German Soldiers of World War Two by Jean De Lagarde
This is ok too, but I'd definitely buy the Sainz book before this. It is just people modelling original kit. IMO there are a few too many officer and "unusual" impressions in it (eg Brandenburger). I would have preferred to see more bog standard Landser pics.

Afrika Corp and the U-Boat volume.
Okay to be honest but the UB didn't really set my soul on fire good photos to be sure ( not the same old same old being trundled out) but not a lot new in terms of information.
