Gentlemen and....Ladies?
I am having the hardest time digging up info or pictures pertaining to the question: Were any 12. SS soldiers outfitted with the short M44 Feldbluse from the Ardennes Offensive onward? Any help would be appreciated beyond words!
Thanks,
Nate

Re: 12. SS M44 Feldbluse?
I've seen photos of the 12. SS with them in the bulge. Here's a pic of one being worn by a captured 12. SS soldat in the Ardennes offensive.
Hope this helps!

Re: 12. SS M44 Feldbluse?
There's a big possibility that they were issued m44. By that time, The m44 set of uniforms, in brown wool (almost British BD fabric) was in use for new replacements.
However, he seems to be wearing the m43 kielhosen.

I believe that the boy is wearing a standard M43 Feldbluse which he put inside his Keilhosen.

Morning,
Kiler you beat me to it. I agree this is an M43 tunic tucked into the trousers.
It was done, especially with vehicle crews. Here is a picture of Panzer Fusilier Regiment GD. The man with the bag is actually wearing an M43 hbt tunic tucked into the working over trousers.

Re: 12. SS M44 Feldbluse?
TBH i don't think the 12th were issued the M44 tunic as i can see no ref to it ??
It appears they were mostly issued the M42/43 tunic, going from pics and ref
books the M44 was mostly issued to WH units and foreign volunteer SS units,
this is what i have found anyway, apparantly the M44 tunics were mostly disliked
and were only worn when there was no other option, early style tunics were re-tailored
and re-issued especially to premier SS units until stocks had run out, as for the 12th they
were mostly supplied by the LSSAH anyway so would get better quality equipment (see pics below)
Mainly Wehrmacht pictures Pic taken from ref book of original tunic for the "Prinz Eugen" Regt
which mainly consisted of "Ethnic Germans" foreign volunteers
from Croatia/Hungary etc Regards Pipes

Re: 12. SS M44 Feldbluse?
Gents,
Thanks for all of the help! The first picture posted by POA1944 is quite deceiving, at first glance I thought I had found my answer however like subsequently stated it would seem it was in fact just a M43 tucked in! I have still yet to find a period photograph proving its issuance to the 12th but I suppose logically, some may have filtered in with replacements. Either way, your knowledge is much appreciated!
Respectfully,
Nate

Re: 12. SS M44 Feldbluse?
Photo is actually not of the 12.SS in the Ardennes area.. This is from a group of photos of captured, young replacements of the 6.SS in the Wingen-Sur-Moder/Wimmenau/Schillersdorf area at the end of the 'Nordwind' offensive of 1945. Here are some of the other photos of Nord which are commonly mislabeled as "12.SS" due to young age.POA1944 wrote:I've seen photos of the 12. SS with them in the bulge.
