I have a pair of the WW1 type from Epic which are almost exactly the same
except the WW1 types have the seam up the side and are completely roughout
leather where as the WW2 type have just the roughout toe which imho will be
harder to re-colour black, saying that they are extremely comfortable and well
made and seem a notch above the usual type floating around tbh.

I had some and coloring them is not a problem.
Comfort was good and the wider top and shaft are good for Hulk calves. The only issue I did have was the 'drop' around the ankle as the leather softens with use.
By the time I sold them on when I switched to my custom made ones they looked like the short shaft boots worn in the Panzerwaffe.

Did you use wire wool soaked in vinegar to recolour them Walther ??Walther wrote:I had some and coloring them is not a problem.

No probs, as i said i found the WW1 types easier to re-colour tbh,
there is a way to re-colour the other types, one way i found on a
re-enactment site was to use wire wool soaked in vinegar which is
then scoured onto the leather, this is time consuming and messy
by the way as i tried it once on some low boots, anyway good luck

Na nothing that exotic. Just boot polish and black dubbin, lather them up and they look fine

I also have a pair of the Epic boots, skipped the wire wool and vinegar method too, used dylon first then black polish and dubbin.... seemed to work well enough!
