Medic Basic Kit List
Hey Guys
A great forum board with top info but I would expect maybe a sticky post with all items required for reenactment for the basic Heer Medic
However as I decided to do the impression I would like your feedback on what I have and if you can correct me if I have something wrong
At this stage im not interested in any bandages or medicines at this stage as im aiming just to do the medic gear.
As I already have the basic Heer Soldier gear I will list what I currently have gathered from looking around for the basic medic editions

If you can tell me if my above items are ok or wrong that would be good and if I have missed anything major

Re: Medic Basic Kit List
The 'medic bag' you show is from the US Navy. How would a German soldier get hold of that?
The arm band you show is for the DRK. A medic in the Heer would wear a plain red cross. A member of the DRK would wear a DRK armband. Not the same organisation, different uniforms.

Use another bread bag on a strap?
You need a 1l water bottle also, usually worn on a long strap in a cradle.

Re: Medic Basic Kit List
As a medic you can use a MG42 ammo box to carry extra equipment. Just paint a white dot with a red cross on both sides. Or perhaps you can get hold of a tornister Affe backpack. Just attach a red cross patch on or a German rucksack M31.
Re: Medic Basic Kit List
It seems to me that the helmet with crosses in circles is an typical American invention. I've never seen a picture of medic with that helmet. I would propose you to paint helmet according to one of patterns:

they also had thecircle s painted on gas mask tins and all gefechts kastens an truppenbesteks, as well as verbandkasten
it seemed rather a painted white circle and red cross on helmets , either normal or fallschirmjager than a decal or transfer

What about a cheap tornister and add a Red X to it?
Re: Medic Basic Kit List
I've seen these helmets but never in the picture. I'm not sure whether they were using during the war. I prefer to use the patterns that appear on original photos.DAS MEDIC wrote:http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/8054891

In my opinion, you can use it but medical backpacks have difrent interior. In the topic with pictures you can find some photographs.MP44 wrote:What about a cheap tornister and add a Red X to it?

the drk
Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (german red cross)- they are the civilian medical service as all units ingermany of that time all came under rule of the current political status( but governed under the geneva convention) they were the equivalent of the red cross here inthe uk ,non military.
their armban had the red cross symbol withthe wording of drk aroundthe outside, uniforms a blue wool \ nurses the striped dress.
if you are doinga basic heer impressionyouneed the plain white armband with a redcross upon it

Re: Medic Basic Kit List
yes tornisters were extensively used with a red cross symbol upon them but due to their complexity of manufacture they were more round pre \early war

Re: Medic Basic Kit List
Several posts you say, yet you couldn't google DRK and check the mulitiude of links and information that pop up. Sadly you ended up showing a complete lack of knowledge on your chosen impression, hence my post.VonSchnitzel wrote:Well if you noticed that I have several posts on this board you would not off asked me that.
