The famous helmet pile picture!
Everyones wet dream.
The location is "Lage Vuursche" near Soest.
The pace is ''cleaned'' around 1991,even then it was nothing but corrosion
what was digged up.

Lets do a bit of research ….

There is a fair selection of helmets types: FJR, Inf...etc… nets, no nets, various types of nets, chicken wire, decal, no decal…

Very few camo paint jobs, very few in Ordnance tan, even fewer with a camo cloth cover….

I bet if we put the re-enactors world of helmets here the majority would have: 2 nets a camo cover and the contents of a large bush attached….

Do I see part of a skull? Two inches from the left, a little over half way up?

Must admit I did a double take but I think its just the way the leather tongues have folded themselves 'inside out' in a peculiar way to resemble eye sockets from that angle!

Amazing picture. Just goes to show how much of a wide range style helmet there is in our 're-enactors guidebook'
"When I was bound apprentice in famous Lincolnshire"
