Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War

Re: Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War
If you look at the Hohenstaufen men - they have their trousers bloused over their marching boots.
I wrote a long time ago how to do this - but will do so again if it is of interest
Put on your trousers.
Roll up the legs to allow you to put on your jackboots
Pull the trouser bottoms over the jackboots and allow to hang normally.
Then drop your trousers and sit on a chair.
Find the bottom of each trouser leg and pull it through to get the tie cords.
Tie each cord around each boot just above the ankle.
Stand up and pull trousers up then fasten them
Trouser bottoms should blouse nicely over jackboots. They will be held in place with the cord tied around the boot.
Takes a bit of time but is quite simple and looks great (as you can see in the photo) as well as being practical.

Re: Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War
and if you ask nicely Herr Grink will even show you how to blouse your Panzer black trousers. However you do then run the risk of being found in his tent with him with your trousers round your ankles
Be a pessimist and never be disappointed.

Yes, its a good way to do it. I was just curious to maybe compare it live, feel how it feels practically, with a cut down jackboot.Hoffman Grink wrote:If you look at the Hohenstaufen men - they have their trousers bloused over their marching boots.

Hi.
And what 'bout the belt? Should it be black or brown? As here:
It looks too much yellowish above but on the photo downwards belt seams not to be black (while the guy is from Herman's panzerdevision).
And on he photo here belts are black:
If there was any regulation of color and how it should be worn? Any hooks should be used?

Re: Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War
Early war they were issued in brown, as things progressed (I think around 41, but don't quote me) the order came round that belts should be issued in black and existing brown belts should be re-dyed black.
However, a brown belt was a sign of a veteran officer, so this rule was often ignored by wearers who wanted to be seen as having done a bit.
This of course was the Heer ruling. Hopefully one of our SS kameraden can throw some light on how theirs were worn as per the boys marching in the bottom picture.
Hope this helps, I'll try and clarify the exact date for you.
Neil.

Thanks for help.
Are standard hooks are applicable? I can't get it right how hooks are attached to this kind of belt http://www.wehrmacht.es/en/field-equipm ... -belt.html or it just placed on them?

Re: Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War
If its a decent wrap, there should be a slit either side for your belt hooks. You might have to cut them open and stitch them in to hold them in place though.
That said... The men went to great lengths to make themselves as snag free as possible. This is why tight fitting wraps were worn instead of regular tunics, shoulder straps were often sewed flat to the tunic and belt hooks not used.
If the tank was brewing up, you need to get out fast, getting uniform stuck on loose wires, a handle or similar protrusion was not a good idea.

Re: Panzer Crewman Equipment Mid War
If there is no hooks the belt may slide down on the hips and the wrap will blouse over it, I guess.
Or should it be worn without belt?
Still If the hooks are used the belt is placed inside the hooks loop, put through the hooks or there are hook straps on the back side of the belt?
