'Grey Wolves' meet - Beltring.

Post by Schäfer »

Following on from the recent Kriegsmarine impression thread:

Don't forget, this year's 'Panzer' is Unterseeboot (quite appropriately!) So, for all those who want to wear U boot uniforms, a meet has been suggested for the biertent between 8pm and 8-30pm on the Saturday evening at Beltring.

See you all there, kameraden.

PS Don't get molested (initiated) on the way!

Harold would know for certain, but I guess they wouldn't have been worn aboard a U boat on active service, where they tended to 'dress down.'

Still, they would have worn them on shore at least so by all means wear one.

Always worn with the black silk. The proper black silk has a narror light blue stripe running diagonally across the knot. EG ones are acceptable and tree tied and small white ribbon tied in a bow on it. With these midis you would wear the blue or white matrosenmütze(donald duck cap) or the blue wool boardmütze(sidecap) The white ones were mainly tropical but there are pics of them being worn in reguklar service. Alway wear them with the flap front trousers and TUCKED into the trousers. No belt and buckle unless you are on duty and with bayonet and frog. If carrying arms belt, bayonet, and ammo pouches. Also if on-duty you roll the end of the trouser cuff up 2 rolls(1-1/2"). Off duty rolled down so the cuff comes just to the bottom on the laces on the low boots or shoes

pocket

Post by pzrwest »

And Edgar says you always carried a condom inside the little pocket in the front of the midi.... if stopped by a politzei and you don't have one you could get a severe blast of Sh..t and a lecture on VD. Contracting VD could be a shooting offence as it was classed as self inflicted wounds

blue midi

Post by pzrwest »

Another note the white midi was not worn under the blue midi as the picture shows. Instead a separate blue collar with white stripes was worn but button in EG ones are acceptable
