New DH-style reenactors' watches: Your suggestions needed.

Re: New DH-style reenactors' watches: Your suggestions needed.
Hurrah! Finally I can log in again.
Sorry for the lack of news for quite some time chaps.
A brief update on what's been happening since I was last here:
As you know, I can't make the watches when the temperature is below 15° C as the lacquer on the dials won't work, hence no production until it got warmer. Unfortunately that point came just after the Japanese Tsunami, which demolished most of the factory that supplies the movements.
Add to that the batch of movements I did have in stock being faulty, the project pretty much stalled for a while.
However, I have managed to source a UK-based supplier which still hold some, so production has once again started, albeit some 8 months behind schedule.
Current status by type
DH-style "Type 1": In production.
DH-Style "Type 2": Still in development, due to the extra lume on the dial. Investigating cost of outsourcing dial lume printing.
KM-style: Trials in progress, working on some problems with the dial lacquer discolouring over the silvering after a couple of months use.
@ Koobleguy, my sincere apologies.
I did reply to your e-mails via both the Timeontarget address and my home Hotmail address, but got no response.
I guess they went astray somehow.
Your custom dial is sitting in its box ready to be assembled into your watch should you still want it.
All the best,
Paul Bellamy

I'm still in for a 'Type 1' as soon as they are ready
If the 'Type 2' luminated watches come to fruition, I'd like one of those as well

I did look into doing a B-uhr, but someone got there first.
The ones that Epic etc. currently stock seem to be the type most usually seen for sale across Europe, and overall are pretty good, I just can't quite get my head around the dial though.
Although the layout is spot on for the RLM "small hours" specification, it's in negative.
I have the designs to make both wartime patterns of B-Uhren dials, and a fair few hand types to work with, so I may have a shot at re-working one and see how it comes out.
Getting rid of the nice-but-unprototypical mineral crystal and replacing it with an acrylic one will help too.
Luftwaffe service wristwatches (non-chronograph) were usually the same as the DH watches of the period.
All the best,
PB

I don't know the first thing about making wristwatches, but would it be possible to make a wristwatch - or maybe just a face - like this?
I found the photo here:

Re: New DH-style reenactors' watches: Your suggestions needed.
The simplest way to make an EG B-Uhr-style watch like that would be to make a new dial for one of the repro B-Uhren and source hands as close as possible to the originals.
Admittedly it wouldn't be quite as huge as an original, but without having a custom case made (very expensive) it's the best that could be done on a sensible budget.

I did a little more research after posting that photo....LMAO!!! Holy Moses!! I didn't realize how HUGE those watches are! I'd be PERFECTLY happy if it was smaller! ...alot smaller.
I am very - VERY - interested in seeing what you might be able to come up with

Re: New DH-style reenactors' watches: Your suggestions needed.
Any chance at replacing that triangle right above the "12" with the WSS logo from the original watch?
That would seal the deal for me.

Ummm, not really.
That's the draft for the standard Luftwaffe B-Uhr Type B dial, I haven't started drawing the SS EG B-Uhr dial yet.
With any luck I should have a draft image to post early in the week.
Of course, should you want a one-off dial I can consider the matter...

LOL - see what I know about watches? I thought that face was your prototype for the WSS navi/artillery watch.
As for a one-off, I wouldn't know where to begin. I'm entirely at your mercy sir.

A standard Luftwaffe type would do me Paul i have seen those at epic but there just something about a good black dialed watch if you do them, it looks good to me so far

Here's one of the improved Dienstuhr-style watches I finished today, now with a Dalbech-signed Type I dial and the new grained leather strap:
