Re: Illustrated history of the Handschar Division
I see Serbianna is still milking this old story like new.

What is even more amusing is that the author is a close reader of mine.
The Dec 8th 1943 Wochenschau does not show any snippets of Handschar or Himmler.
This statement literally runs against every scholarly article written on the subject in the past 30yrs.
I wonder if he truly knows what the term auxiliary really means.

He also goes on to say that the men were issued the infamous SS daggers...what idiocy.."Bosnian Muslims were the perpetrators of the genocide against the Serbian Orthodox population."
I wonder if he truly knows what the term auxiliary really means.
"Another way Himmler sought to distinguish the Bosnian Muslim and Ukrainian SS divisions was by classifying them as “der SS”, or “of the SS”, meaning they were auxiliary formations of the SS."
Re: Illustrated history of the Handschar Division
A very noticeable similarity even with the 30yrs change and disparity in army clothing of the two periods. Even the bayonet has a type of ceremonial sword knot. It is said that the Bosnians were called up by the emperor to quell the riots in Vienna in 1911.
