2.SS Pz. AA "Das Reich" in the Ardennes Dec. 1944

Post by Wilhelm »

Hi Jungs,

I was looking through my old books, for info for Steve Das Reich, and found a note written in the hand of my late father-in-law.

Written about 20 years ago, Werner told me that the "Recon" battalion was removed from the Das Reich Division during the Ardennes and fought very much alone. I asked him where they served, and he wrote the following.....

(the first two places were the forming-up area before the offensive).

Hoping that this may add new information?
Cheers, Bill

An interesting bit of paper. Recognise some of the place names, but not Bowies? Maybe he meant Beho?? Although that's further East than Provedroux.

He must have been a fascinating chap to talk to, your Father in Law.

Maybe he meant "Bovigny" or "Gouvy". In a lot of reports the French names are written wrong.
