That's the civilian version of the kennkarte. The version Harold posted on page 1 of this thread is one of the military types.

I cleaned up the scan that Harold posted, here it is as two .jpg files:

This is, as you can see, a reproduction of a reproduction. I haven't ever seen any original documents of this type and wonder what they actually looked like, if they did exist. I believe that the Soldbuch was generally carried at all times, as vertean accounts indicate. But for new recruits or in a pinch this Kennkarte is perhaps better than nothing.
