Not to hijack the thread but ask someone who obvouslyknows the value, I have an origenal genuine iron cross with ribbon on which was given to my father 40 years ago from a veteren, ive checked the number is on the ring which I read someplace is how to check they are genuine, not being a medal collecter myself and it just sitting around in a draw, What type of value could I expect and where would be best place to sell it.
I looked on ebay but there seems alot of fakes on there and price varies acordingly.

Hi. it depends on condition and it has its original ribbon,I have seen them as low as £60 but most price's at shows are between £75 -£90 sometimes a bit more for a scarce maker. You say yours has a maker mark,if you can make out the number I can look up the manufacturer.John

Thanks for that, just took a look and the number is 122, The ribbon looks new but has been in my possesion for over 40 years so no reason to not think its anything but the origenal, the silver edge is slightly tarnished and the black is as new, Been in A tin for years..
The owner was a gast house owner near porta westfalica who had served in the war and and a great friend of my father who served in minden during thw 60/70s who gave it to him, If i knew who to contact I would ask if they wished it returned, but unfortunetly the passage of time and peaple no way of finding him now.

Thanks for the info btw, what is the best way to sell This and other more modern medals I have, through a dealer or ebay!, Not related to ww2 but I have a NI and Un cyprus medal

Hi.Maker mark 122 is JJ Stahl,Strassburg. If you put it on ebay you will have to cover up the swastika or it will be pulled, might also be advisible to put a reserve minimum price you would take.Dealers will usually pay half of value,as they have overheads and may take longer to sell the item.Do not worry about the tarnish,DO NOT CLEAN IT,collectors like them as is.
NOMAD.I checked on wehrmacht awards,133 is listed as a maker of EKII but is unknown as to who made them.John

This month's purchases part 1:

First up a very nice zinc Frank & Reif PAB. As with most zinc badges the finish his been lost over time, but this is elieved to have been a bronze originally.
A very nicely produced piece and another to tick off my wanted list!

This month part 2

It's rare for me to purchase a box rather than a badge but this type in good nick is rare.

An LDO marked L/11 Deumer KVK case with a nice condition KVK thrown in. You can see the indentations in the blue lining where the original KVK would have been stored for some time (as opposed to the EK11 marks often found in these blue boxes)

All in all in productive use of payday cash!

:D Very nice pieces,I do like the L/11 box and I do like Deumer pieces. Its great to get a matching box as these are rarer than the medals them selves.John

Hello all here is my humble collection:

Image

Most were left to me by my Grandfather who was an avid collector having picked up most in the 1950's whilst in Germany on National Service, though my main area of collecting is British WW1 Long Service Groups I do still pick up the odd award.

Cheers
