Hi All

Time Life has recently placed their archives online, and its well worth a trawl (no pun intended :D ) thru for KM photos
German snorkle submarine that USSR got at the end of the war.

Cam we should do a thread on the Type XXI - the boat which promised so much , yet was never really tested in combat.
Schnee had one encounter making a mock attack on an escorted cruiser which left him in a prime shooting position , he escaped unoticed by the escorts using the short underwater sprint ability of the boat to put distance between himself and his ernstwhile target.
The boat itself was the long awaited replacement for the long past its sell by date Type VII which was in 44/45 little more than a death trap for all who served on them.,
I picked up Life via another forum which I am active on , it is as you say a treasure trove of history.

What we have in respect of images from Germany , it is only a part of what which once existed - several truck loads of photographic images , negatives and film just disappeared - Hitler had oprtdered all photographic records of the war to be destroyed - thankfully the men in charge of them disregarded the idiots order.
