It Never Snows in September by Robert Kershaw

Post by dog green 1 »

Has anyone read 'It Never Snows in September' by Robert Kershaw which gives the German perspective on Operation Market Garden. Thoughts please if you have. Is it one to add to the bookshelves???

Excellent read and reference for the German perspective, especially the involvement of the FJ in various Kampfgruppen. A must have.

I agree: very good to read and compare descriptions/actions with Martin Middlebrook's book.

Probably one of the best books there is from a German perspective and anyone interested in Arnhem, Nijmegen etc should have it on the bookshelf. The historical analysis and tactics employed by the defending German forces is looked at and studied in detail by the current British Army.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll have a Hollywood blockbuster that represents the true side of the German armed forces and dispel those myths that "all Germans are bad guys". Something along the lines All Quiet on the Western Front, but based on WW2. :)
