[quote="9.SS-PzDiv"]Thank you!
What's wrong with the italian pants?
Nothing per se , and I'm sure someone will provide evidence the SS wore them , but they are a Heer item essentially and look out of place on an SS mann ( in my opinion ) ...

I'm quite sure a lot of HJ members had italian camouflage in Normandy.

Re: Show us you!
The SS were supplied numerous amounts of Italian camo, from trousers, smocks and combi's to zeltbahns helmet covers. The 12th certainly used alot of it as well, from Normandie onwards... The Germans sure put to use all the italian camo they got! here is an example photo.
thats my two cents

Halle,
From all of my photo research, Italien camouflage is nearly exclusively an SS item with a few exceptions, especially 12th SS.

While I'd dispute that it was almost exclusively SS , I'll not argue against its use by SS troops, and certainly the 12e SS HJ . However , like the fabled black leather suits liberated from the Kriegsmarine , I'm certain it wasn't " widespread " . I just believe there is a certain 'look' to an SS mann and his uniform, and it doesn't include Italian cammo . I also happen to believe the same for Heer troops , far too much cammo of all types decorating reenactors backs when plain field grey looks far far better.
But that's just my prejudice and I concede the point

You're probably right with Heer camo, but you see a ton of camouflage material used by the 12th SS, so I wouldn't say that's wrong.

The old ' everyone's gotta be filthy' argument . New replacements , fresh off the boat/train ? A well supplied army who , unlike the German , could issue items of new equipment on a regular basis ? Or fastidious regulars , who kept themselves and their equipment clean ?
Not gonna comment on the rifles ....

Their kit was very well use/field worn, i was surprised just how the Black n white image hides a multitude of shit it was bone dry so dusty yes muddy no. of course to be authentic you really have to roll around in pig shite like soldiers do
Oh on our next shoot come along i'm sure for true authenticity you wouldn't mind us chucking your rifle in the shit just for the picture
