Kameraden!,
I found myself wondering about this the other day. Don't know if any of you guys out there can shed any light on this for me.
The Military were issued soldbuchs and there were 4 distinct types (Heer, Kreigsmarine, Luftwaffe and SS) and which ever service you joined gave you the relevant soldbuch.
I know, for example, that later in the war a lot of Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine were transferred into SS.
I was wondering did they get issued a new soldbuch or was their original service soldbuch retained but had a change of unit marked in it?
Cheers

Re: Soldbuch issue
I have seen both examples of Luftwaffe soldiers going to Heer, getting a second Soldbuch or just having their new unit entered in their old Soldbuch. I can't remember SS related examples though.

As far as I'm aware , your original Soldbuch stated with you for the duration of your military career , everything to do with it was recorded , including any transfers .
