In the evening of 27 July 1944 2. Komp./Gren. Rgt. 981. along with the other elements of the 272. Infanterie-Division was pulled out of line after long-lasting defensive battles against the British and Canadian forces. The last massive offensive of the II Canadian Corps across a seven-kilometer front, stretching from the Orne River to Bourguebus Ridge, preceded by preliminary barrage lasting upwards of five hours had particular effect. Battle-weary soldiers of the 2. Komp. with undisguised joy received the order of getting ready for moving to the area around the town of Troarn.
One of the platoon prepares its basic means of transportation. The soldiers take their time joking, repairing disturbed uniforms, cleaning weapons, having a simple meal. They know that in just a few hours they will be behind the frontline, but the memories of the bygone days will stay in their mind for long.

Sorry, I don't know much about Pz Lehr kit. The trousers in pic 3 - seem to have a pocket flap similar to FJ.
