Mullbinden, questions about

Whats the little bit of coloured tape on packs of Mullbinden used for? I have seen various colours and types of tape. Is it a code for type or packing date.
Whats the skinny on the tape guys?

i will investigate further (just in from beltrting and pooped)
but
usually a tape around a dressing pack such as mulbinden or any sterile wrap is a way of opening or handling a sterile wrap without contaminating the contenets.

These are the little bits only placed on the top. I think on the pack I gave you it was pink? Just a flash of colour on the top of the pack?
This other pack I have here the tape is a beige paper type 1 inch long.

got it.
it would be autoclave paper
when items are sterilised a small strip of changeable paper is put on the dressing, it changes from pink to brown when autoclaved, over years of deteriation the paper will change again or back.
