Don't carry a rifle but a pistol. For the rest You have about 2-4 ammo boxes. Easy way of carrying those is taking a shovel, put the handle through the handle of the box and carry it on your shoulder. And then there is all of the other equipment a normal rifleman would have except for the bayonet.

I wore the 100 round belts around my neck, it's easy but you need to take care the rounds stay clean.

I ran out of fabric at the sleeves. Simple solution is to leave them like that.

I prefer the regulation too, up to the wrist bone. But... as I said before, "if i had to choose" between a reenactor with a shorter sleeve or with the sleeve up to his knuckles I prefer the shorter option.

Maybe my phobia to the sleeves up to the knuckle it's because I have seen too many of so called reenactors here in Spain with Feldbluses too big for them because they feel more confortable than with the size of Feldbluse appropriate for them, with the overall result that Instead of looking like German soldiers they look like a bunch of clowns. Mmmm.... this one it's one of my Pet hates.

Short sleeves are cool, look at the period photos , they are very often shorter than longer . I think its 100% realistic .

That is a different point to the one I'm making, too long is as bad as too short. Over long is seen in the records just as too short is. There is a happy medium. That is what they chose as the regulation length.
Always aim to be average, after all, that is the best we can hope for.
