What is a good Re-enactment Picture?

What is a good Re-enactment Picture?
Define a Good Re-enactment Picture...
For me its:
Everything Correct for the period in the Picture and a logical Picture not with guys standing and one laying down shooting.
Also Post Period or bad Equipment are a no no...
Also I like a little of the colour changed as it adds atmosphere also I like abstract or abnormal Pictures.
So what are good Re-enactment Pictures for you?
Feel Free to post away...

Photos in colour unless taken with a period camera. B/W or sepia is a bit boring and often doesn't add anything to the photo.

Strange concept but I understand what you mean...
These simple black and whites and Sepia are indeed boring.
But what if you want the Picture to Look like a Wartime Photo? But don't have a Wartime Camera?
Correct Program to edit then?

i feel like a lot of reenactors overly age their photos on photoshop and such, i see a lot of pics on here that look like they've been through hell and back. black and white is good, in my opinion, with only genuine film. you can never quite replicate film with digital.

For me, the best pictures are those which capture something of the period atmosphere. They don't need to feature anything really special, and I think it's something that is hard to do completely on purpose. Sometimes just the correct mannerisms, photography etc. make pictures which really make you feel that they are original. Hard to explain, but I guess that at least those who feel the same way know what I meanb

Re: What is a good Re-enactment Picture?
I exhibit some of my pictures in Exhibitions and find that accurate pictures never do well, what is popular with judges ect are pictures that have drama normally showing in the faces, I recently won an award for a picture of a half track being blown up at kelmarsh, the award was for being creative which made me laugh as i never touched photo shop on that photo.
The guys informed me English heritage had insisted on fire retardant and I believe a little to much cement dust was placed in the charge causing a large gray explosion.
Black and white seems to be more popular for WWII pictures in Exibitions

any programme that can use layers would be good for what you want, using gunge overlay layers, software like elements and photoshop you can download actions that automate the processJonny wrote:rednas wrote:Photos in colour unless taken with a period camera. I'd say the above are pretty but not reenactment per se - more pyro pics (especially as I created the original effect on the Stuart) but I consider this a good reenactment photo
Because it looks and FEELS period.
