The reason I ask is the 29th infantry are the only infantry unit I have seen who wore helmet scrim, and that was a small minority.

the size of the ehlmet net can be specific to unit though

Helmet net yes, however D-Day I have only seen images on the 29th with helmet scrim.

Edit: 2nd armoured post d-day seem to have been issued with helmet scrim. Not seen any other armoured or infantry units though.

Sean there were units like the big red one and quite a few other units that used em well get a small list up when im not at college. The most used net was the brit helmet nets the M44 net came out a bit to late to get in to any propper use during the war.

Its 29th Infantry. It's actually a start of an impression to go along side an A class for a tech Sgt, just havent got round to sewing the shevrons on yet

Not as common as 29ID but scrim is also seen on some 4ID soldiers on Utah

looking through FIRST US ARMY by bernage,as well as 1st/29th/4th theres eveidence of scrim in use by men in 79th,3rd armd&28th in limited numbers
