A Frame - was the Gas Mask Tin attached to it?

HI Guys

I wonder if you guys can help me please ??

Im trying to find any evidence that the gas mask tin was attached to the A Frame.........IE Pics was it done or not ?? all and any help is very much appreciated

I haven't found any pics that support it. There's a pic in Brian Davis (plate 359) which at one stage I wrongly believed showed it, but I later realised that it was just the tin sitting snugly below the loaded A-frame. The whole point of the gasmask tin is that it is worn over the top of everything else for rapid deployment should it be required.

Hi Steiner

Thanks for the information I have seen with one of my Waffen SS books a pic of a guy wearing one attached to an A Frame also there is a pic in europa militaria - Waffen SS uniforms and equipment a guy wearing one.

But obviously the need for quick deployment was paramount, or atleast you would have thought so, just wondered if it was a common occurance
