re-nailing German boots
How and what is the best way to re-nail German ankle boots? I have removed the cheap Alu "nails" and want to insert original steel nails. I tried to hammer them in but man is that pain as they take forever to hammer in! Any tips and tricks?

Are you using a proper last?
Remember, if they go in easy they fall out easy.

Re: re-nailing German boots
They have two barbs on them so i was thinking of getting them in then giving them a twist to secure them...
Brought them to the cobbler before and (she) said would cost CHF 220.- to do it! I can buy a new pair for that price, she also said she refuses to use the nails I provide and must buy some of hers...to hell with that, looks like I will have to go further out, but would still prefer to do them myself.
Another idea would be to get them in and secure them with "lime". I never had a problem with GJ boots but those were different nails and more "agreeable" to go in.

Use a shoe last, or you'll make a bell-end of it, and it up with nails in your feet

Re: re-nailing German boots
There is a Dutch Bloke who is always at Beltring and Odessey that does a re-nailing service while you wait he did a beautiful job on my jackboots £15 and all origional nails, toe plate and heel iron!
Always keep the boot of destiny aimed at the arse of anticipation!
Re: re-nailing German boots
That'd be Erikbozwo2! Re-soled my spare boots too...
