This black ones were used postwar by Czech firefighters. The shells are usually in a very good condition and both M40 and M42 models but with exchanged liner. Prices vary from 48£ to 60£ here in Poland (I managed to buy M42 shell for 46£ on a flea market).Obergefreiter Hansch wrote:Vit Zemanek on eBay sells original German re-issue black shells and the M42s are the cheapest- good range of sizes and ORIGINAL. These are the Indian made ones. Good quailty shells as far as the FJ lids go but people say the liners could be better. They are available from a UK based company on UK EBay. Not sure how they compare price wise, could save on shipping though.Aprillia wrote:Belive me guys, exelent german repro helmets ( all tipes, included helmets from 1WW ) coud be bought from german diler http://www.aus-omas-truhe.de ! Re: which repro?
I got an M35 from Medieval Arms on Ebay for £39 (also at http://www.medieval-arms.co.uk). So, what's it like? Well, the liner is not up to much - the leather is a bit spongey and would need to be replaced. However, the main problem is the size. I have a size 58 head, so I thought the size 58 M35 would be just the ticket. However, as the attached pics show (slightly pixelated so as not to scare the children...), a bigger size was probably a good idea! If I can't get a bigger size from these guys (their M40 comes in Size 60 - so maybe that will fit!!!), I think Thomas from Zeugmeister could well be getting a call - his repros look pretty good.
