sleeve letters, bevo or ?

Post by christian »

hi Volks Christian here,

I'm starting to get some gear together, Ive got an M40 tunic that I bought from K P Emig in Germany, through the internet that I've been using for airsoft milsims and I want to get hold of the collar patches and eagle, what type would be correct, would it be the bevo silk ones or the hard woolen backed dark green ones, and also, if its not too much to ask what type of sleeve letters do I need, bevo or aluminium woven. I've seen both types and would like to get things right

many thanks in advance

Chris

hi,

yes, I'll dig it out and send it to your personal message board, you could try ZENKER MILITARIA, he has a great site packed full of hard to get hold of goodies and does a good quality m40 suit at a reasonable price

For an M40 you could wear either for the breast eagle. Go bevo for the collar tabs.

well, as GD, we'd only get the best :) so that means until late war: proper boots and decent insignia.

trouble is that bevo only works if you get it stitched properly, you need it properly machine stitched to look right. damned if I can stitch it that well!!

late war=ankle boots+gaiters and bevo insignia
however since we base our impression on '43 when they changed to an armoured recon unit we can get away with most combinations.
what you have to remember is that GD was pretty much wiped out twice so towards the end of the war almost everyone was a replacement and would have been issued whatever was available.
insignia (litzen and shoulder boards) have to be golden yellow piped as we are now portraying Armoured Recconaisance(spelling?)
also you have to earn your cuff-title so sowing it on before you do a show is a no-no,the cuff-title to go for though is the enlisted mans black sutterlein version(try http://www.militaria-net.co.uk)
