Site security update.
There has been a major issue of vandalism on site. All of the windows in the cp and toilet blocks put thru, chairs burned, nesting boxes ripped down etc - mindless idiots. This as you can appreciate has greatly upset the warden.
It will not affect us we have been squaring things up but it will be appreciated if anyone can lend a hand on Fri just to finish off last bits.

To this end we will be mounting night guard duties and patrols (ON A VOLUNTEER basis) I would suggest as there is enough of us perhaps an hour on and then kip for all of us who volunteer. This will deter the idiots and also maintain our own security kit, cars etc.
It will also tie in nicely for an early morning attack on the Sunday. Volunteers please see me with your section leaders on Fri or Sat morning. This is not mandatory but makes sense and will of course add some more realism to YOUR living history event!!
See you all in the forest!

Thank you Chris for what we greatfully accept now as a benchmark event. everyone i spoke to at the weekend had a great time. our dutch friends yet again were amazing and all the allies were top draw!!! looking forward to the next one.
massive thank you to Louise and Dink for supplying us with food, coffee and tea all weekend. without them we`d all starve i`m sure.

Just like to add my thanks to that. First time at Duke's and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought everyone was really great. As for the Dutch - perhaps a new level of madness - they were and excellent bunch of lads.
Thanks to Lou and Dink for the Food also.

Hi Guys well stiff as a board and thoroughly knackered!!! Once again many, many thanks to all the groups who once again braved the elements and supported Dukes again!!!Far too many people to mention - as always but nice to see all the old faces and new alike. The weather was kind which is always a bonus and everything went without a hitch and as always got better as time went on.... Professional and fair with very little teflon and as always the Axis seem to have got that unit cohesion down to a tee. We tried but they were all over us. The last defence contact we did was really hard fought - and lost unfortunately - but c'est la Guerre!!!!! To all who travelled from near and far, who battled, supplied kit, supplied guns, fed the troops and got the site ready and cleaned up again you all know who you are a great display of teamwork and camraderie - THANKYOU!!!! Photo's and documentary to follow.
Chris
P.s thanks to all incl Laurence who assisted with Matt (who had a slow cooked round go off on a misfire from his weapon upon unloading. Luckily no serious injury. Hope your feeling better fella you,ve earned a combat wound badge. Just goes to show though that no matter what care we all take the unexpected can and will happen.)

Many thanks for a great English weekend!!

Some highlights from my side:
* at first, this week I don't need any food anymore because of the excellent cooking of the ladies!!
* the face of 1 of the lady's after firing a MG42 belt  (film is coming!!)
* another face of pretty-boy Chris after a nice clean shot when he was loading :P
* the help of our English Wehrmachtfriends in our group and the rest of the Germans on our flanks!!
* the losing bit of the Allied site (good job lads, keep up the good work, hihi!!)
* and a special moment: "The Shovel Martin attack" when you were there, you know what I mean!!

I think I can speak behave of Der Windhund: The Crazy Dutch Guys had a wonderfull weekend!!

Friendly greetings, Wald Schmidt

Cheers to everyone who came to this event. Cheers to Chris for organising it. Was a good event, met alot of old and new faces. Highlight of the weekend was my disperate shovel charge, was so hard to do that with a straight face. Roll on next year.
