Always remember to wave with the LEFT arm. That way no one can acuse you of making "improper" gestures.
I remind my group of this, especially at steam railway events where there are lots of public waving.
Funny I guess. Wave at someone with your right hand in an allied uniform and your waving, do the same thing in an Axis one and you are accused of being a Nazi :D

Difficult one but if in doubt just walk away. Hasn`t happened recently but I used to be the `tard` magnet at public shows. If there was the local idiot or someone who just had to have a go, they would make a beeline for me. Thankfully that has ceased and i can now leave the safety of my tent,,,,

It is very clear that even if not party members a very large proportion of the population were supporters.
True. However, this support decreased as war went bad (remember what even Staufenberg wrote to his wife after 1939 campaign in Poland  )

I've had sort of the opposite problem. Was at an event in a small town frequented by motorcycle clubs. Most of them are normal, cool people enjoying their hobby but every now and then you'll find some of these groups to be a breeding ground for white supremacists and similar fauna. To make a long story short, two of these sloped-forehead fellas came up and were all compliments on how great it was for me to stand up for "what I believed in" and put on an SS uniform and how cool it was to see Americans in nazi uniforms... What do you say to such pristine stupidity? It'd be like trying to explain String Theory to a two-year old...
I smiled, nodded and walk away as fast as possible. That was the last time I attended that particular event...

I was at Pickering this year(first time as a reenactor)and deceided to go on the train to Lewisham, see the french occupied town and SS camp. Now i left my bayonet and rifle at the camp so as not to upset or scare the public and went as a soldier on leave. On arrival at the station at Pickering i was informed that no "nazis" where allowed to travel on the train as it was private property and they don't let "nazis" travel. Now i explained that the NSDAP fell apart when their boss died in 1945,but to no avail. So off i trooped back to the show site.My point here is i was dressed as a panzer grenadier, smock on,field cap on.Nothing over the top just a normal soldat. So what is the problem with this railway,we're reenactors or can't they see past that.

Them's the rules NYMR make. Levisham is worth the drive up, don't be put off by not being able to get the train up!
