WHO MAKES A GOOD REPRO WINDJACKE?

Post by gebirgs soldat »

Now that Lost Battalions is truly "lost".. out of business, who else makes a good Windjacke?

I personally would prefer a jacket rather than a windproof smock/anorak..

I like the flexibility of an open coat when things (the chest) get warm!

Is Spearhead/Barry Lyndon the only remaining source for the Windjacke? Trying to determine if MilitariaOnline is selling the same jackets?

NCHS out of Virginia has some Windjacken listed on eBay which are claimed to be Japanese production. They're all incredibly wrinkled so presuming residual stock?

Servus Graxlhuber,

Here's a shot that I took of the Windjacke at the GJ Museum back in 1996 while on my honeymoon...

'Military Harbor' have some interesting windjack in khaki color.

I'm interested is someone bought that windjacke from them?

Grüß Di' Wolf und Bergkameraden,

I've not seen the Military Harbor Windjacke in person but the photos on the site look pretty good...at $75 I may have to get one.

Here's an original from my collection:

Do you have a link? I found a Harbor Militaria that sells via eBay but I couldn't find a windjacke. http://www.militaryharbor.com/

Thanks! :D

I just ordered a size Medium jacket. I will post photos and comments when I receive it.

ADDED ON 2/7/11: His site indicated he would be gone until the 6th. Yesterday was the 6th and windjacke is enroute.

ADDED ON 2/15/11: Tracking info for this jacket show it has safely arrived in the US and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Has anyone seen original issue Windjacke in any color other than the pale green color? I have seen several original issue jackets and they have all been a pale green shade.

Servus Grabenkater...I think most standard Army Issue Windjacke were olive green (pale green) in color. The one at the Gebirgsjäger Museum in Sonthofen seems to be different though the collar is olive green. I have even seen an original Windjacke made from a US Army Shelter Half....must have been made from captured stocks...maybe Russian Lend-Lease material???

I think BarryLyndon28 at Spearhead Militaria on eBay makes a Windjacke closest to the original olive green color.

Horrido!

Hi,
Does your jacket have the second set of buttons for adjusting the wrist opening? The buttons are different from the Military Harbor jacket but they appear to share the same basic pattern.
