Photo's from the groups recent outing to the Pip Park Private battle are now live on the site. The weekend saw us as part of the Heer Kampfgruppe with ourselves and the GD Fusiliers living up to the original GD's nick name of 'Der Feuerwehr', plugging gaps, bolstering numbers where possible and covering some epic withdrawals across the vast expanse of the site.

Amongst many fine projects going on within GD Aufklärungs (including a number of Krads) our own Sd.Kfz.222 is nearing completion and will hopefully make an appearance in the Summer.

The group were recently invited to take part in a film project which was themed around events at the time of the Battle of Dunkirk in 1940. We took on our alternative 'early war' impression as men from the 208.Infanterie-Division which fought it's way across France against both the French and the British Expeditionary Force.

Members also enjoyed the rare opportunity to fire an original MG34 during the course of the weekends filming.

Feldzug in Polen

The gallery of our recent event at the excellent Wartime in the Vale has now been uploaded to the site. Our display was based on German troops of the 208/. Infanterie Division encamped on the Polish Frontier during August 1939.

The men busied themselves checking their kit, fixing up the units motorcycles, taking part in last minute briefings and the Kompanie Schuster carrying out those all important repairs to our marching boots. The next day saw us move out and make contact with a member of the Polish Army and eventually cross the Frontier.

Next up is our annual trip to Kelmarsh Hall with us back in Golden yellow Waffenfarbe and Grossdeutschland cufftitles.

See you there if you are going....

Lieber kameraden!

Been a while since i've updated this thread, so I thought i'd share a few pics to show what we've been up to and bring us up to date.

Our last 2 public shows of the year saw us commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Operation Citadelle (Kursk) with themed displays at the Essex MVT Show in August and the Victory Show September. In a year of good intergroup co-operation, we were joined by our Kameraden from the Panzer Fusiliers at Essex and Generalstab at the Victory Show.

The group were also pleased to welcome our new Skdfz.222 Armoured car to the display at the Victory Show which we look forward to using in 2014.

With the public shows finished for the year, it was time to focus on the off season events, the first being some film work which we were lucky enough to take part in for the National Geographic channel. The documentary is due to be aired in the new year, fingers crossed it will be as good as we all hope.

Next up is our annual Winter training event, stand by for pictures of that in early December.

Thanks for looking,

Well that's the end of another years battling for us folks in Grossdeutschland Aufklärungs so with that I'd like to thank everyone for the support, hard work, dedication and input over the 2013 season and sign off with our latest photo shoot of the year bringing to life not your normal average combat photo's but something a little bit different with our 'Winter im Kaserne' theme covering life in the Barracks and with a particular emphases towards Christmas for the German Soldat.

http://www.gdrecon.co.uk/galleries/wintkas/index.html

Thank you and best wishes from all in GD Aufklärungs and Frohe Weihnachten und ein glückliches neues Jahr!
