For clarity do you mean 10" round, black, shellac, music type records?
Is it the disc you want or just the tunes?

If it is just digital tunes you want then this lady should be able to help:

Re: Original/repro WW2 German records.
Hi guys was looking for original or repro shellac type records not recordings'
sorry for not being more specific, i tried to respond last night but couldnt
log on, maybe the site was down
Anyway basically have just repaired a 1920's-30's gramaphone (inside it says series 1928-1930)
and thought it would be a good addition to my camp layout, especially if i could get it playing
some authentic records, the gramaphone was from a French flea-market lol but is an English
"Decca" brand ??, the workings were jammed, the lid and handle was off lol, but put it altogether
now lol
Any help with records sources (repro or original) would be appreciated such as searching for
artists etc, there was one womans name but cant remember now, think she may have committed
suicide during the War, think she was Swedish, does that ring any bells to the experts, also of course
was looking at "Edith Piaff" wartime records, not Marlene Dietrich of course as she moved to the US.
Cheers for any help, regards Pipes

I dont know how old these links are but have a look.
You are searching for '78s'
Good hunting.
Car boot sales are usually good for a few.
Classical music was popular as was the dreaded jazz. Dont limit yourself to German language stuff.
I'm in Germany this weekend, want me to look for some? How much do you want to pay?

Hi Stig
That great mate, if you can get two or three about a tenner each
that would be fantastic, as you say some French and German ones,
i can always send you cheque to cover what you spent plus postage
when you send them to me, very much appreciated
Regards Peiper

Re: Original/repro WW2 German records.
You dont need to spend a tenner each, but finding German or even French 78s over here is hard. I got some from a record dealer in London, but its horrible opera! Try and get some spare needles for your gramaphone too, as they go blunt very fast and ruin the record.

Am bidding for some needles on fleabay at the moment and managed to win some 1940's jazz records
(Duke Ellington 1940 & 41) but as you say no German or French as they are hard to get here as you know,
Dont fancy the opera's ive seen some of them on ebay too, hoping to get German or French singing, (folk songs etc)
saw some Edith Piaff on flebay too but they were modern 60's stuff, as i said a tenner each would be my limit, hoping
Stig finds me some decent ones lol

Re: Original/repro WW2 German records.
If your local 'Recycling centre' (Tip) is anything like mine, they are keen to recycle and sell most things. Mine usually has a pile of 78s amongst which might just occasionally be something period and French/German. Usually about 25/50p as well, but of course, mostly heavy operatic.

Thanks for that Mike never thought of that, worth a lookMikeFG wrote:If your local 'Recycling centre' (Tip) is anything like mine, they are keen to recycle and sell most things. Re: Original/repro WW2 German records.
last year i got a lale andersen's lili marlene ,sung in german and a couple of classical 78'sfor £1.50p at boot fair, was well chuffed,a hint though,do not leave these old shellac 78's in direct sunlight,on display they will warp,if they do run them under warm water and keep pressed flat to reshape them

If you go to ebay.de and use 'Schellack (78 rpm)' as your search selection there are 26,000 to choose from (25,355 of which accept paypal). I am sure you can get one or two from that lot!
LOL, LOL (added that so Peiper and I are speaking the same language )
