No "groups" as such, to the best of my knowledge.
Scattered individual re-enactors seems to be the current UK Finnish scene

...on the topic of scattered, WHERE in the UK are you?
(If you get a chance fill some info in on your profile)

Happy to help where I can with advice on shops/dealers, must-have reference books, must-watch films, museums in Finland, etc.

It'll repay the time spent too, if you re-read some of the other posts in the Finnish Discussion section, for the last couple of years or so.

scattered is certainly true - I'm in the south but mainly reenact British (std Brit soldier almost as rare as Finns!)

It is a shame I may start looking into getting a group started.

Did my first public outing at the weekend at a show in Northumberland.

Was surprised that several member of the public spotted that I was Finnish...most thought German & one even gave me grief that "all her relatives" were killed by the Germans.

Having done all of one public show now I am already fine tuning the kit layout!

Will be attending Blyth again this year (late May)

Possibly the East Fortune show too.

The latter is NOT the best event but it's less than a 20 minute drive from me...so good to catch up with people.
Sadly just heard that one of the regulars i've known from the reenacting scene since the late 80's just died.
He'll be missed.

Anyone else in the UK doing Finnish this year?
If so, where & when?
