period underwear?

I know the Swedish long johns are a good bet, but for summer wear, should I just grab some vintage style cotton undershorts or is there a better option?

However, you can still buy white cotton 'draws' ( shorts ) and and vests, these were prevalent from the late 19thC till the 1980s.
