Regulations on keeping trousers tucked into low boots?

Post by SchutzeHagemann »

Hey everyone,

I have noticed that whenever I tuck my trousers into my low boots (They are the straight leg field grey trousers, M40's) they always come out. Is there some sort of regulation in the manuals to keep them in? How do you guys do it? Thanks!

SchutzeHagemann ,
The trousers you are referring to we're generally worn with Marschestiefel . By the time the low boot was in general circulation , the M43 pattern trousers were issued , and of course these had a loop built in at the bottom of the leg ( copying the Berghosen ) which went under the instep , which stopped the trousers riding up .
I've no suggestions for your question , it would seem impossible - however , there are numerous picture of even late war troops wearing plain straight legged trousers over low boots , if that helps .

Regards ,

Well I know that not every soldier was issued the keilhosen. But I guess I should just invest in a pair. Or get marching boots! :)

And Marco, that's not a bad idea. Do you know if anyone actually did this?

Well..the german soldier from that time was very inventive with fieldmodifications, as known.

My guess would be..a soldier with m40's just has seen the loops on the m43 of a comrade and easily sews some cloth stripe on his trousers to get the same comfort  .

Besides..a friend of mine found an original m40 with loops attached like i've explained..

Thanks Marco! I'll get to sewing! Do you have any recommendations on the type of material? I have some original breadbag material.. but don't know if that would work.
