NCO Whistle and Lanyard

Post by holz21pz »

Anyone have a source for the German NCO whistle and/or the braided lanyard that goe with it? A repro would be best, but I don't know that anyone does that.

I just bought a repro whistle from Ostfront.. $9.00...cheap!
The lanyard is another matter.
I intend to make my own, just as soon as I can learn how to do that particular braid.

As odd as it sounds, I made my own lanyards using a book I got from the library on macrame. Have a nose through and you'll find a few braids that are the same as the original patterns (there are a few variations). It's pretty easy to do.

That's one of the styles I've used. The other is a braid type design and a bit more complex.

I bought my lanyard from Ostfront, don't know how long they have had those. They have few different colours of them.

Had no idea they had them. Nice looking. Oh well, we had a spool of macrame cord in the closet and just went for it.

I purchased one about two years ago from either 1944 militaria or At The Front. It is a dead match in color to my tunic and is very well done. And as I remember, it was not expensive. But then at my age, I have the short term memory of a toothpick.
