"Repro" Japanese civilian identity booklet...

Post by Sturmannlee »

Greetings to all.

Last night I was on the local WW2 website (really educational about the Japanese invasion on Malaya and Singapore) when I stumbled upon this pdf file of an original Japanese civilian identity booklet used by workers etc and decided to some sort of repro this rare document. ( Well, these are not as heavly repro-ed as the Soldbuchs!!)

You guys are the first to viw my works here. =-p

Here are some of the original document scans... The two pictures below are from http://www.s1942.org.sg/home/index.jsp

Up till 2 am, I was refining the words and removed almost all traces of the handwrting and picture digitally to make an unissued one.

These three are the prototypes, from left raw, draft copy..centre is a copy in colour but paper is stuck on each other to determine the page flow...at right is a better reprint, but the paper was too thin.

This morning I reprinted more copies on heavier paper and firther refined the alignment of the printing to make it dual sided... (the two below) Voila!

Closeup of the inside pages for picture identification and the rules of the booklet in English...the preceding page was in Japanese.

I will be touching up more here on this project but would like to enquire if anyone is familiar with this book to share a comment of two.
