What kind of banner?

Post by Steffen »

Konnichiwa senseis,
I've got a tricky quastion for you- does someone know, what this kind of banner was good for? The Kanjis means the following: "Osamu Okada from the city of Ooga". Where were those items worn? Maybe around the head or like a belt? Could it be something like the "good luck in battle" banners?

Hoping for answers,

Personnally to me my gut feeling says it looks like a Sash/Tasuki, worn over one shoulder. Probaly presented to the young man by family and friends when he joined up, a final good luck present

Many thanks, Tanaka.
I found it in the pocket of his formal military uniform trouser, so I think it should be at best, to fix it at his jacket. Do you have a pic of it, or of the nodal?

Best regards,
Steffen

Awesome pics, I think I've found a good way to present the banner. I'm gonna post some pics in a few days, if you are interested.

Best regards,
Steffen
