Re: Atlantikwall bei Calais - France
Some of them are indeed bigger but usually they are closed or private. I recommend the museum in the "Batterie Todt" but I usually prefer the small Bunkers. They are hundreds of them in the country 1-2 km from the sea. Unfortunatly, most of them were full of water at the time I was there. Should try again in summer.Franz repper wrote:I always thought the wall was a lot bigger !! well thats what you get for reading the propaganda

Re: Atlantikwall bei Calais - France
The batterie had four casements with 105's in them , AA and ground defences.
The site has been restored and is open to the public during the clearance a shell from USS Texas was discovered unexploded.
The shell went straight through a casement killing the entire gun crew en route smashing through two walls before burying itself in the ground to the rear of the casement.
An excellent museum is now on site - worth a visit.
