I know the Swedish long johns are a good bet, but for summer wear, should I just grab some vintage style cotton undershorts or is there a better option? has anyone else had a pair that lasted longer than a week before they had at least 1 hole appear in the sole of said item? I've had 3 and none of them lasted a week...bloody shame as they are warm n comfy... I've a few pairs, from 10-15 years ago, still going strong. A lot of the stuff they produce...

You have my sympathy, 9/10 sizes have pretty much dried up. I know of one pair, maybe still for sale, but they are very narrow indeed ( unissued condition).

I'm not familiar with Nestoff boots...were they cheap ? How robust are they ? Are the nails aluminium or steel ?

If they're cheap and badly made they'll fall to bits whatever you do to them.

One of my all time favourites, Dietl c.1934 on manoeuvres.

You can clearly see the two tone reversible white/grey of his Reichswehr issued Windjacke...man I'd love to own one of those..
