Re: GJ rucksacks

WOLF... I have a nearly identical rucksack as your second photo, mine has all leather straps.

WHEN, oh When, will they make a reproduction M-31 rucksack?

Every original I have seen for sale has been ripped/torn or extremely worn.

My 15 Jagers in mein Eineheit need them!

Re: How to shrink wool - or not?

Use HOT WATER! then put in a dryer for only til item is damp, then air dry the rest of the time. I generally wash my uniforms once a year.. and I order them oversized to allow for shrinkage.. that way if I am in a really wet/muddy situation I can clean my uniform without worries. If the uniform is a...

Re: The definitive reproduction wickelgamaschen post

Ron, I am currently making a batch of "WICKIES" (completion date, Nov 2010). You and Zack are welcome to order a pair. The "stoff" used is a very fine, tight weave worsted wool, od green blanket material with a dark green cotton tape. According to Jim Poole from Papa Kiser's 5th ...

Re: Why Not DAK?

Even though my reenacting club (CHG) likes the desert for their DAK events, We have another area called OZENA VALLEY that is 4,000 feet, mountainous/hilly, with scrub oak that looks identical to film footage I have seen of Algeria/Tunisia/KASSERINE PASS/TEBESSA.. but the management refuses to use th...

Re: Web Equipment Straps

I bought regular cotton canvas water bottle straps from Hessen antique then added the strap to go around it myself with some similar cotton canvas straps I had laying around. It looks good.

WHO MAKES A GOOD REPRO WINDJACKE?

Now that Lost Battalions is truly "lost".. out of business, who else makes a good Windjacke?

I personally would prefer a jacket rather than a windproof smock/anorak..

I like the flexibility of an open coat when things (the chest) get warm!
