Waffenfarbe on a Crusher was white for all arms of service there was only a short time when the waffenfarbe was coloured . Unless your talking about a service cap ?

When SS Nord was formed they had a large number of Heer Zelt's and there is a photo of a Heer officer in Finland with a cammo smock

Considering that I was ordered by my leutnant to repair some of my issue items in the army - this being in the year 2008 - I would imagine they certainly repaired some items themselves as well.
