Don't know about the black, but here are the other color codes.

Red = 1 Second
Blue = 4.5 Seconds (Standard configuration)
Yellow = 7.5 Seconds
Gray = 10 Seconds

I actually once used my belt gear opposite, cause I am left handed. Then I realized that this was too farb, and changed it. I tested the gas mask canister on both sides, and it works fine for me.
