Re: MG34 help required
MG34 Lafette on sale with RJ Militaria at £2350!!!! I think £1200 would be a starting point these days for a private sale... He just said the MG34 above breaks, so a post 1988 deac., like most of them. Only pre-1988 have removable barrels, and do command a substantial premium. There is no 'old spec'...

Re: MG34 help required
Totting up the individual items I calculated £1460, but then I valued the gun itself at £1000 and they have been going for more than that with some dealers (£1200 or more) so I would say the price is spot on for what looks a good set. Try offering £1450 as it is definitely worth that in the current ...

Re: MG34 lafette
The MGZ wasn't included in the Lafette price though... Whereas 42 Lafettes are still fairly widely available, being manufactured and used by a number of nations post 1945, the 34 Lafette was only manufactured by the Germans during WW2 so is much more scarce today. Indeed many 34 lafettes were modifi...

Re: War and Peace show revival
Sounds like one of the bean counters has taken leave of their senses... unless it is a crafty way of weeding out those reenactors who throw a few bits of canvas up and then spend all their time wandering around the stalls? Bona fide groups they really want will get permits for members...

Re: heads up
Wendy, Gasgun John (WTAC on here) buys replica MG42s and 34s from them so they presumably are OK.

Re: Dunkelgelb RAL 7028
7028 hasn't existed in the RAL charts for many years. Wartime formulations are the 43 spec (a bit more yellowy buttery) and the revised 44 formulation (a definite beige shade). Warpaints sell a "German sand" which has been matched to the 43 version, other companies have matched the 44 beig...

Re: Original M40 Shell Q66 or 68.
If anybody has a known 66 shell perhaps they could run a tape measure around the circumference, and if telemark does the same with his we can compare. Suggest line the tape up with the crease where the skirt flares out so the measurement is at the same point.... If the same (plus or minus a couple o...

Re: zib-militaria's MG53 purchase ?
Yes, US based reenactors can own live MG42/53 and MG34s, but it depends on individual State regulations as to whether they can have full auto or semi-auto. As these guns have to be rebuilt from 'de-militarized' examples cut into three or four chunks with gas torches they tend to be expensive. I beli...
