Re: aged gear.

How is sewing socks or a tunic any less time consuming than a breadbag? If I put a nick in my breadbag, and I wasn't immediately on the front line - ie not in combat, and not up to my balls in death and destruction, with wounded and dead everywhere with kit to pilfer, it'd be getting sewn. Just my ...

Re: aged gear.

Field repairs were common and were mostly conducted at regimental and/or company level by designated unit tailors, cobblers, saddlers etc. Forget this idea of new kit issue for units that spent lengthy periods at or close to the front - it didn't happen then and it doesn't happen nowadays either! Wh...

Re: M44 Late war Tunic

Arrived today Chris - many thanks for great service. Super tunic btw, I thought I'd missed out on one of these when Chen went off the scene so I'm well pleased - wool quality (proper late war 'itchy and scratchy'!), colour and fit are perfect. Now for the late-war GD insignia treatment! Cheers

Re: new oak b set from SM Wholesale

For the posers with too much money. Yes you right I agree with you mate -lots of them C'mon fellas put the 'green eyed' monster back in the cage! So you can't afford a set, me neither but if I could I'd have one. Folks spend a hell of a lot of time on here asking 'bone headed' questions like; "...

Re: Tobruk 2012 (Aus)

You dont need both, if you carried that much brass you would strain some thing :) I beg to differ. My opinion is based on two points: 1. Late war period photographs 2. My own personal experience (as a real paratrooper, albeit that was 30 years ago!). You carry as much ammunition as you can - and th...

Re: Rau and epic Knobelbecher

I can recommend the Epic repro - I have a pair of the very nice Marching boots that RAU had (from Poland I think) around six years ago but they are wearing out now so I needed a replacement pair. I also have post-war 'Jacks' that I used for parade boots but the Epic repros are good value and look re...

Re: New Unit

Hi Guys, I have been out of re-enacting for a couple of years, but want to get back in it. I fancy setting up a new unit. What is involved? Thanks Why? Serious question, why do you feel that WW2 Axis re-enactment in the UK needs another new unit setting up and what would be different about this new...
