Re: Sportanzug

My shoes from 1944 have a made in mexico stamp in them, so I doubt SMW made them, although they do have mexicans make most of their stuff! At FIG SMW had a pair of these as well, Steve of SMW told me his company made them and wouldn't be producing any more. He offered me a pair of 8's, but one was ...

Re: Sportanzug

thanks Otto  Has anyone experience with Sportschue from 1944 Militaria? 1944 has a limited stock on these. Only size 7 and something else iirc. They were made by SM Wholesale and were a one time deal. Me, being a size 8, means I need to look elsewhere. I have found a "similar looking&quo...

Btl shoulderboard ribbon/cord/cloth

I have seen on several original tunics and boards little strips of colored cloth used to designate Btl. Level units within a larger context. Where is a good source to get material that I can use for this? I. Was tempted by grosgrain ribbon but it seems too shiny. Also this is an item I have never ha...

Re: gavin militaria? any hbt customers comments?

I handled Gavin HBTs sold by Kelley's Militaria at 'Gap in Jan. 2012. I found the material and even the tailoring to be on-par with originals I have handled. The "rise" in the back of the trousers was present, and the buttonholes were of the correct style. Perhaps they have gone down in qu...

Re: gavin militaria? any hbt customers comments?

I bought one of his HBT M42 uniforms some time ago. In my opinion its very crappy  , material is VERY thin and it eaisyly rips . Additionally, it is very shiny and nothing can be done about it . I do not recommend this product. Originals are very thin and rip easily. When issued, German HBTs ...

Re: M34 Feldmutze question

Hello guys - I just picked up an M34 fm from Hessen, I assume its a Sturm made cap?. Anyway, my question is that I prefer when the cap fits more like a US overseas cap, without the large gap in the center of the cap. I hope I am being clear here. I assume just sew up the crown on the inside?? Any h...

Re: DAK tunic & trousers

At the moment, I can't vouch for anybody. Lost Battalions out of the US made great tropical uniforms. ANT-Z's early ones had some issues, but the latest runs were pretty decent too. With ANT-Z out out the picture, there really aren't that many choices left. Maybe Sturm from RAU or SMW custom made on...

Re: Grenade Bag Question

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500074&page=2 Here is some info. As noted in the thread, the ones with the leather closure tabs and the sewn-in cells within the pouch are for rifle grenades. Others in the thread noted that the zippered ones (white RiRi zippers iirc) are ...

Re: M36 TUNIC HELP PLEASE?

Either of the places I recomeneded can do you the Litzen ready mounted. Shoulder board wise - its dark green with grass green rather than feldgrau with grass green - as its an early war tunic and you wanted early war. this CAN be worn all the way through - though Ideally for late war - you'd get a ...

Re: M36 TUNIC HELP PLEASE?

RAU said that generic Litzen was being produced in 1938, but as he said to me: "reenactors like their Waffenfarbe colours". And therein lies the issue. Reenactorisms and "what looks cool" often triumph over a presentation of historical reality. The same concept comes hand...

That is a good course of action and Thank God someone listens, takes notice and makes a good informed decision Speak with Richard and discuss your requirements with him - He will advice and send you the required insignia. Re: M36 TUNIC HELP PLEASE?

The Litzen with the matching secondary color to the Waffenfarbe ceased production in 1938. They may have existed in stocks past this date, but the majority of "issue" M36 Feldbluse I have seen or handled have had the "Generic" M38 type Litzen. I'm not talking tailored NCO Feldblu...

Re: aged gear.

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=517817&highlight=M43 Take a look at this thread everybody. Some uniforms are shown with extensive wartime repairs. Tunic in posts #7-12 has many repairs, and shows nap wear consistent with being originally an SS uniform. This jacket could h...
