Re: Operation Charnwood

wow! Great photographs. Yo are lucky- we never get permission to blow up a city so the reenactments look better. How did the residents of Caen react when they found out you were blowing them up to do photographs? Seriously, great job. Wish I was there with you to experience fighting in rubble.. Patr...

Re: LADO at Royal Gunpowder Mills 2014

Where do you get your canned bread? that looks good enough to actually eat! Also, I find everything is reproduced except underwear. I know Lost battalions lists it, but I don't really want tropical. I usually wear modern Russian army underwear as it is very close to the real WW2 issue, and it is fai...

Re: Inner tube band...

I have read that the early war ones were red (reddish?). Later war bands were (again, I read this somewhere!) were black/very dark. Photos seem to show a black color. The bands are not always perfect, cut cut with a knife, and irregular, IE, not perfectly straight. I don't use one since I fear havin...

Luftwaffe Leather colour

I have read and seen pictures of early and pre war Luftwaffe issue cartridge pouches. They are said to be chocolate brown. The photos show a colour that is dark brown or perhaps chocolate pudding colour. I have gotten a set of very nice quality natural/tan colour ammo pouches and am planning to dye ...

Re: bandoleer time line

Thanks Christian
I am always sorry that things can be made now that were not made then. I have never seen a photo of a tan and water bandolier, but thought it worth asking about. I like the grey-blue and the tanish/scrap the most. But they are harder to find.

bandoleer time line

Does anyone have a rough time line of the types and colours of the FJ k98 bandoliers? I see tans, olive, field grey, field blue, splinter b and tan and water. Are all these legitimate? Early war with two snaps, some with rounded flaps, some with straight then angled flaps, some bright blue, and all ...

German Combat Helmets - A Norwegian Collection by Jan M. Mel

German Combat Helmets - A Norwegian Collection by Jan M. Meland I just received this book, after buying it form the US Ebay site. It is great. Close ups of paint, and decals, of both regular "plain" helmets and camo. The photos are clear, crisp, and they are all in color. For the price I p...

Re: Show us you!

I would love to hear your story!

Where did you begin and end? Did you walk wood roads? back roads and trail?

Hope you write more about your journey!

Re: Fantasy item?

I have not seen this markings on any SS soldier in period photos. If it is expensive, I 'd avoid it. If it is cheap, it is really fake.

Re: watertight gas can?

Thanks for the info. I appreciate your time and thoughts. I think there are too many "D" marked cans out there to have been produced for the KM and coastal units only. I suspect that they are for all service units. But then, when the reenactment community agrees 100% it will probably be a ...

watertight gas can?

I have severalWW2 German gas mask cans. One is marked "D" on the bottom. I have read this means either it is watertight, or that it was made by Drager in Luebeck. If it is water tight, I can't see why it is, and why they would make it so. If it is water tight when made, was there a gasket/...

Re: I want a better pair of Luftwaffe gaiters, any suggestio

I bought the ATF bag, and it matches very nicely the original one I was given years ago on a trip to Germany. Weave and colour good. (Original bag grey- blue, and the colours inside and out were the same, so I doubt it was badly faded)

Re: Other outfits-impressions??

In regards to the USA airborne Ike coat- I believe the marksman badge should be on the pocket flap and not the center of the actual pocket.

Have not got my regs handy, just remembering relatives!

Re: Show us you!

Why repaint? If the colour is wrong I understand. but I think a reenactor that resists the sexy camo helmet and goes with a plain old standard one shows some quality! 8) (For what is worth- I gave in, and I am not sure I should have, even though lots of camoed Luftwaffe helmets exist.)
