Re: Controversial history

The casualties for the Finns figure at 774 dead, 2904 wounded and 262 missing, with major property damage for Northern Finland. As for Finnish feelings for fighting, as you said both sides wanted to get over with it peacefully. However, when this didn't work out due to Soviets, the Finnish soldiers ...

Re: Controversial history

Old thread, but I would like to clear up some misconceptions. I haven't personally read either book, so I won't comment on their validity. However, the executions had nothing to do with any 'German sympathy' whatsoever, but with desertion during the heavy fighting of summer 1944! It is a well docume...

I suggest you give it one more try, as the owner has returned from his summer holiday by now, so you might have better luck.

Re: Soldier with M45 helmet?

I must admit I really know nothing about Danish uniforms  , but I have noticed that you adopted a longer type of boot quite early, as seen here, with models 1903, 10 and 23, which the picture reminded me of. But again, I really don't know the details on Danish stuff, so you're probably right o...

Re: Soldier with M45 helmet?

I think his boots could also be Danish, they had a modernish combat boot already back then. I think you solved this one, thanks :)

Soldier with M45 helmet?

Mate send me this photo, it's originally from Steel Panthers manual. The soldier (police?) seems to be wearing the rare M45 (DDR style) helmet, is armed with M1 Carbine and generally has a very weird uniform. The shoes could be American? So, I'd like to hear your opinions, wartime, DDR or West Germa...

Re: Foreigners in Japanese forces?

A comrade recently spend a lot of time researching Russians in IJA, this is what he found out. I'm sure he can add things and tell about his sources :) This subject, though almost completely unknown in the west, is quite widely documented in Japanese and Russian military history. Kwantung Army was i...

Just send them some e-mail at orders@wiking.fi They speak English :) And good luck for setting up your group!

Oh, and while you're at it, you might want to order the book Asepuku M/36. It also has text in English.

Re: Red Orchestra 2

I think it had more to do with the general with the developers not wanting to use too much resources on different player models. There were only two different versions for each side, a summer and winter one, no differences between early and late war, and no Gebirgsjäger or Razverchiki uniforms eithe...

They should still stock them, most if not all districts, officer and enlisted variants.

Re: The defence of the factory

Wow, those are really some of the best urban warfare photos I have seen, great job :) Looking forward to see more. If you have access to that place for another time, maybe you could try adding some sandbags to fortify the positions and take photos of other preparations, like setting up tripwires.

Excellent photos! The ones taken with Leica could easily be passed off as real.
