Are those 'D' for Deutschland Regiment on the shoulder broads of the Oberscharführer? Edit: or is it a P for panzerjäger after all the piping does look pink? the IAB confuses it a little.

Most SS divisions were extremely capable fighting units and many were elite that is not in dispute. However the thing that gets me is the constant over representation of the SS. That’s all. I think to simply say that the SS were “elite” is nothing more than a mere generalisation a sweeping statement. The SS did achieved many victories true, but did others not?

It could be SS-Standartenfuhrer Freiherr von Montigny (?) Eicke's Ia. I am not 100% certain on this but that is what I am being lead to believe. I have been unable to find a picture of Montigny but if anyone does find one post it for comparison.
