Re: Favorite german song from ww2
My favorites are Dutch collaboration songs.............. In first place is " Daar Ging er een Scheepje" (There Sailed a Little Ship) and in second place is "Voorwaarts, Sturmsoldat" (Forward, Stormsoldier) Followed by any of the "Jeugdstorm" (NSB Youth) songs, for examp...

Damaged Cigarette picture albums
I collect Third reich picture albums from cigarette companies and some of them are in a damaged state, books with damaged spines, pictures missing or stuck together etc. When they come in such a state the only option is to throw them away...... However, it is difficult to throw away a piece of histo...

Re: Sven Hassel Dies
No one will ever know the truth..........however, it was Sven Hassel books that got me interested in the Wehrmacht in the 70s
and hence involved with this hobby. My first ever Sven Hassel book was "Liquidate Paris".
Cheers, Bill.

Re: Can cliques be damaging to the continuation of the forum
Yes, I did notice that Stigroadie has been deactivated. Well at least Stigroadie will not be bombarding me with futher unwanted, unjustified Private Messages anymore, requesting that I quit this forum and support a walk out. He had my sympathy until he pulled that stunt early in the week. Cheers, Bi...

Re: Can cliques be damaging to the continuation of the forum
I have not been in contact with Alex direct (I have been working at a Railway Museum all day and have just come home), but I am sure that the forum will settle down and things will be back to normal in due course, the reason for saying that is because several people who had left the forum are indeed...

Re: Who hates sewing uniform insignia?
OK, who has ever sewn on cufftitles, finished the job all nice and neat,
then tried on the tunic only to find it is not straight or that the two ends do not meet up!
What about NCO Tresse

Who hates sewing uniform insignia?
Who hates sewing uniform insignia? With the availability of a vast range of reenactment uniforms and insignia on the market, it has become easier to think about a new uniform, be it for use within your reenactment group or the beer tent at Beltring. I hate the sewing part and each time I finish a u...

Re: See Ya
Sadly there seems to be a lot of disputes on the forums recently. Most of them have their roots well outside the hobby, some are of a very private nature, that flare up and consume the whole reenactment scene. Of course in the 70s and 80s it was not all roses and we had the odd crisis, but they were...

Re: See Ya
Ever since i joined there has been the "know more than you crowd" Isnt that what you should expect? I've just joined a forum that covers a new interest I have. Everyone there knows more than I do. Thats what I would expect, what use to a new member is a forum where the new guys are the ex...

Re: See Ya
I have not been active online due to various reasons, including health, recently. I have also not been in contact with individuals on both sides since Beltring, it has all been a surprise to me! So I was very distressed and saddened to read what has been going on, both here and elsewhere :( As a mem...

Re: Interesting question - kneeling while captured
From a personal point I would not like to be kneeling whilst surrendering, it allows for a boot in the teeth from an enemy boot. I would wish to be standing, if possible making myself look bigger to the one taking me prisoner. Standing, one can fend off any possible blows better and "roll"...

Re: WW2 Reichsbahn
Looking great bill, i would guess the insignia was not cheap since it looks origional (not much repro stuff available for the unusual badges) The collar badges were about £20 (original pre-war) The shunters trade badge was £4 (maybe a late 40s post-war?) The shoulder straps £30 (original wartime). ...
